Michael J. Passarella
Michael J. Passarella has spent his entire 50 year professional career as both a practicing CPA and as a board member and audit committee chair of three publicly-traded companies. He had been a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee of The Unum Group, a major insurance holding company, from 2005 until 2014, when he retired from the Board pursuant to Unum’s Director Retirement Policy. He previously served as a director and audit committee chair of Archipelago Holdings, an all-electronic US stock market, until its merger with the New York Stock Exchange, and of Nyfix, Inc, a provider of electronic securities trading solutions, which was acquired by a subsidiary of the New York Stock Exchange.
Mike was an audit partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) from 1975 until his retirement in 2002. During his tenure as a partner, he served as the managing partner of the Price Waterhouse (a predecessor firm of PwC) U.S securities industry practice from 1983 to 1998 and was the PwC capital markets industry global audit leader from 1998 to 2001. He also served as the lead engagement partner on audits of numerous financial services organizations as well as maintained a close working relationship with key industry regulators. Mike began his career with Price Waterhouse in 1963.
Mike had held a number of leadership positions within the AICPA and the Securities Industry Association while a partner of PwC, and served as a member of the Audit Committee Chair Advisory Council of the National Association of Corporate Directors from 2010 until 2014. Mike was elected in 2002 to the Board of Trustees of Manhattan College, from where he graduated with a BBA degree in 1963, and appointed as its Vice- Chairman in 2012.
